About the book

“Biophotonics Fundamental Concepts to Cutting – edge Applications”

“In honor of the laser turning the age of 50, the book will address some of the more notable scientific accomplishments in this field of research. The term biophotonics signifies an amalgamation of biology and photonics, with photonics being the science and technology of generation, fabrication, and discovery of photons, light quanta, etc. This book will serve as a reference for physical practitioners, biomedical scholars, clinicians, healthcare consultants, biomedical engineers and other experts dealing with design, development, and application of photonics apparatuses as well as instrumentation of biophotonics issues.

The topics that will be covered are: fundamentals of optics, optoelectronics and photonics, the photosensitive properties of biological tissues, bioscience, microscopy imagining of tissue constituents, spectroscophical tools for optically examining the functioning of tissues, and photonic biomedical imaging. It will also designate tools and techniques such as laser and LED based optical sources, photodetectors, fiber optic cables/sensors, bioluminescent probes, optical-based biosensors, surface plasmon resonance, lab-on-a-chip technologies, advanced technologies in biophotonic diagnostics and therapeutics, and infrared technology in biophotonics.”
